I keep seeing all this stuff about "Babe" on this listserve. I
haven't seen the movie myself, but I'm wondering if anyof you who are so
excited to see it know about the conditions under which it was filmed? I
usually try to avoid patronizing movies made with animal entertainers
because i belive that the use of animals in entertainment is generally
bogus and that the animals are usually mistreated and generally exploited
without having any interest in the enterprise themselves. Is ther a
reason i should feel differently about this movie? There's been a really
strange phenomenon lately of animal-rights-ish movies coming out that
totally abused and/or exploited animals in the making. I'm not sure what
to make of this. Examples: Free Willy and Project X and Fluke. I don't
reallyunderstand what this trend means, what the movies mean, or how i
should view them. I'm curious about your reactions...
