Mike Jacknis pointed out that there is an ad in the Tech Talk for a class
on achieving a meatless diet (May 3, page 6).

Yeah, not only was there a big ad in the TT for a class on going
meatless, but I noticed this week that a bookstore in the Galleria
has a whole section (ie. a whole 3' wide shelf, floor to top) of
vegetarian cookbooks, clearly labeled as such. Face it everyone, we're
becoming mainstream.

OK, picture this: you are at a restaurant with a bunch of people
and someone orders a steak. Everyone looks at this person and someone says
'wow, you eat *meat*?', launching into a whole discussion of this person's
reasons for eating meat, with someone at the table adding that they tried to
be a meat-eater once, but they were just getting too much darn protein and had
to go back to being a vegetarian. Wow, now *that* would be progress.

   Ahhhh...

   Wake up now, Ed.
