plants vs. animals

Also, plants have less senses.
They have only the sense of touch.
THey can't see, taste, smell, nor hear.
So, they won't feel as much pain as 
animals would.  
Idealistically, we would not want to 
sacrifice plants for our own welfare,
but i guess it is the lesser of two evils.
I am writing this from what the philosophy,
Jainism, states.  

THose who follow Jainism strictly, even have
days (5 days every month or so) in which they
don't even eat green vegetables. 
I guess we can do only as much as we can.
