I'm inclined to agree. There are other mailing lists for discussing
animal rights issues and ethics, but this is the only list I know of
discussing vegetarian-life at MIT. I am a vegetarian. I have been
one for a long time. I've already made that realization in my life
and learned how to deal with many things. Presenting lots and lots of
animal rights issues does nothing to "convince" me to be a vegetarian
or reinforce my vegetarian beliefs. Informing me of a good place to
eat (hey! has anyone tried Boca Grande for good veggie mexican food?)
or of nifty recipes (thanks Dan!) is more useful to me, and why I
joined this list.

We're all vegetarians for our own reasons. I don't try to force my
reasoning on anyone else. I will recommend places to eat, books to
read, or help in leading a veggie lifestyle in an individualized way
to those who need it. My belief is that anyone on vsg is already or
has some interest in becoming a vegetarian, and would like to know
and/or share available resources, or to bond together for common
goals, such as getting more veggie options in lobdell, etc...

And to that end: Has anyone tried "the Melting Pot" or "The Five
Seasons"? I've heard of them both but never tried them. The Melting
Pot is a small, neighborhood restaraunt that's run by some local
religious group (7th day adventists?) and serves mainly veggie stuff.
I read an article in a boston glob recently that indicated that the
local community was really amused that they all spent so much time
hanging out and eating in "religious, healthfood restaraunt" or
something like that. The Five Seasons is in Jamaica Plains. I've
heard it's really good but never been there. After a recent bout of
travelling and having totally excellent meals at amazing restaraunts
in other cities (in San Diego: go to the Kung Food; in New Orleans:
The Old Dog/New Trick Cafe is the place to eat) I'm really amazed that
Boston doesn't have any similar quality restaraunts.
