hi there,
i don't want to hear about third world debt on this mailing list.
i don't want to hear forwards from various people's animal rights mailing
lists on this mailing list.
i really generally don't want to listen to discussion about animal rights
on this mailing list.
i don't want to have to delete 11 pieces of mail since 5 pm last night on
this mailing list, all unread because they are tangential to this group
(with the exception of the movie announcement).
this mailing list is getting ridiculous. can't we just discuss what it's
like to be a vegetarian at mit? can't we just exchange recipes and times
we'd like to cook/eat together? can't we just lobby ara? there are other
mailing lists for the topics that have been filling our inboxes on this
list lately.
and on that note, here's a really yummy recipe for hopelessly bad-for-you
pecan pie that i really love. enjoy...

-----
caitlin's pecan pie (but she got it from an ad...)
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup Karo corn syrup, light or dark
1 pkg (4 oz) Baker's German sweet chocolate OR 4 squares (4 oz.)
Baker's Semi-sweet chocolate, melted
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 & 1/2 cups pecan halves
1 unbaked 9 inch pastry shell
Mix the eggs, corn syrup, chocolate, sugar, butter and vanilla until
well blended. Add the pecans and stir in. Pour into pastry shell.
Bake in 350o F oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until knife inserted
halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.
Comments:
I use dark corn syrup, and semisweet chocolate.
You can use pecans chopped instead of halves.
It sometimes takes more than 60 minutes to bake fully.
