Reminder: Please send a message to vsg-summer with the recipie you made
for yesterday's potluck dinner. It will, of course, be recorded in the
discuss meeting on menelaus for generations to come!
Mine was:
Random Rice:
3 cups brown organic Batsmani rice (or any kind of rice)
1 cup of a grain I got at Cambridge coop whose name I forgot (it looks
like birdseed)
1/2 cup almonds and 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds (or whatever seeds and nuts
you happen to have, except for sunflower seeds, peanuts, and
sesamie seeds)
8 cups water
whatever spices you have available (I used Star Market Chili Powder)
whatever vegetables you have available (I used carrots, mushrooms, and
cherry tomatoes)
Mix together all ingredients; cook until done (about 45 minutes)
Works much better if you steam it -- use a rice cooker or a double
boiler. I didn't, so the bottom burned and the top didn't cook.
Enjoy,
Mike
