On scyther.mit.edu, a Linux-Athena 9.4.9 machine:
In my home directory:
[~ scyther]% ls -l .anyone
ls: .anyone: No such file or directory
[~ scyther]% fs flushv .anyone
Error flushing volume .anyone: No such file or directory
[~ scyther]% fs flushv .
[~ scyther]% ls -l .anyone
ls: .anyone: No such file or directory
[~ scyther]% cat .anyone
[contents here]
[~ scyther]% ls -l .anyone
-rw-rw-rw- 1 kchen mit 365 Jun 6 11:26 .anyone
During this process, I also tried reading my .anyone file on other
machines (specifically, grobda.mit.edu and grumpy-fuzzball.mit.edu),
both of which read the file fine.
