Here are the results of my tests:
* With metacity, zwgc windows with geometry +0-0 appear with the
bottom 48 pixels obscured by the panel, but not off the bottom of the
screen.
* With metacity, xterm windows with geometry +0-0 also appear with the
bottom 48 pixels obscured by the panel, just as with zwgc windows.
* With sawfish, xterm windows with geometry +0-0 appear with the
bottom 48 pixels obscuring the panel (i.e. sawfish does not seem to
force the panel to always be on top like metacity does).
Can you confirm that my results are not consistent with yours?
