RedHat, in their infinite wisdom, dumped a bunch of modules (including
advansys.o) in the kernel-unsupported rpm. This is amazingly
undocumented, but if you install that package, you'll get support for all
the classic hardware like 3c509, advansys SCSI cards, and other wonderful
things. It's worth noting that PCMCIA is mostly broken until you install
this RPM. The rhe-release team has a bug with Redhat about this. Anyway,
the rpm you want is
/afs/athena/system/rhlinux/rhel-3-updates/RPMS/kernel-unsupported-2.4.21-15.EL.i686.rpm
(adjust accordingly for athlon). Install that, run depmod -a, and you're
good. (The module will be in
/lib/modules/2.4.21-15.EL/unsupported/drivers/scsi/advansys.o), but it'll
work.

I'll let someone else chime in about plans for this specific package WRT
Athena.
