As promised, I'm looking into the workspace issues you described in
your bug report.

How are these set up?  I tried setting up some sawfish global key
bindings for "Previous Workspace" and "Next Workspace" and couldn't
produce any strange behavior.

I'm also having trouble understanding your description of what's going
wrong.

There is an option to make that happen, but it's not on by default,
and it's not even user-configurable (you have to edit .sawfish/rc to
turn it on), so it's not behavior one should normally see.

This should be fixed in the next patch release.  Apparently, to work
around a bug in a GNOME library (libwnck), the sawfish lisp code would
switch the number of rows and columns in the workspace grid.  But it
wasn't a very good workaround; when the libwnck bug was fixed, the
workaround reintroduced the bug.
