I expect that it would be too much work for not enough improvement to
further refine our approximate sizing calculations. But I thought I'd
mention this datapoint in testers.
I helped Tom Thornton upgrade his laptop from 9.1 to 9.2.
The update aborted giving half a dozen package names and the additional
megabytes of disk required to hold them.
I did
rpm -e athena-tetex-9.1-16.i386.rpm
having reviewed what packages were removed to slim down 9.2, and
noticing that tetex consumed a whole lot more space than was needed to
be freed.
After having removed that package, the update went fine.
Tom's / partition was 3-some GB.
