Athena 9.2.7 Linux: from -r

The "from" program seems to occasionally missing some data:

% from -r
[...]
"J. Noel Chiappa" <jnc@ginger. Re: myth of the great transition (was US Defens
Keith Moore <moore@cs.utk.edu> Re: myth of the great transition (was US Defens

"Daniela J. Trammell" <daniela Need/Want a Typewriter
Tina Sands <tsands@MIT.EDU> 4 free desks and 2 computer tables
[...]

The seemingly blank line for message 81 has whitespace through the
sender field and no subject. Using "pop" from the SIPB locker on the
surrounding messages shows normal headers, and the headers for message
81 are below, but they look pretty normal too:

    Return-Path: <speadbf1@MIT.EDU>

Using just "from" again gets me no headers for that message:

    [...]
    From: "J. Noel Chiappa" <jnc@ginger.lcs.mit.edu>
    From: Keith Moore <moore@cs.utk.edu>
    From:
    From: "Daniela J. Trammell" <danielat@MIT.EDU>
    From: Tina Sands <tsands@MIT.EDU>
    [...]

Since from seems to be doing encrypted exchanges with the server, I
can't tell from a simple strace whether the server is sending the
correct data or not.

I did try running imtest and sending a "fetch" command, and the
returned data looks okay:

    * 80 FETCH (RFC822.HEADER {135}
    From: Keith Moore <moore@cs.utk.edu>
    Subject: Re: myth of the great transition (was US Defense Department forma
     lly adopts IPv6)

    )
    * 81 FETCH (RFC822.HEADER {102}
    From: Benjamin Spead <speadbf1@MIT.EDU>
    Subject: 19" rack, rolling table, 4 drawer filing cabinet

    )
    * 82 FETCH (RFC822.HEADER {83}
    From: "Daniela J. Trammell" <danielat@MIT.EDU>
    Subject: Need/Want a Typewriter

    )
