strange errors in console while restarting: trying to access /srvd?

I'm testing Linux 9.2 in a disconnected vmware machine. After I log
out and X restarts, the console pops up quickly with a few messages,
and then disappears. I finally got a chance to see the messages:
cp: cannot stat `/srvd/etc/athena/athinfo.access.': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/srvd/etc/athena/local-lockers.conf.': No such file or directory
There is no /srvd on Linux, so something else is going wrong.
