At several points during the past few months, I've been left without a
tasklist. In the past day, I've seen multiple questions to the effect of
"Where do windows go when I minimize them on Athena 9?" asked of OLC, and
they're almost certainly because of this problem (I haven't seen any of these
questions quickly enough to grab one myself and verify that this is the issue,
but what else could it be).
I think I've seen the issue persist across logins (but am not certain), and it
can be cured until it happens again either by deleting all gnome and sawfish
dotfiles (probably one of those would do) or by re-adding the tasklist to the
panel. I'm not certain if it's dying on startup, or never getting started at
all.
If this persists, it's a very high-visibility problem that breaks the
Windowsishness of Athena 9; I'd like us to make a strong effort to find what's
wrong. I'll begin searching bugzilla momentarily; if anyone else has ideas or
inspiration, please join in.
