Hi Bill,
The config file was indeed updated. This is the result of an unfortunate
design decision on the part of the xss developer. You have a .xscreensaver
file, and unfortunately it enumerates all settings rather than just those
you've customized. To fix this, you should note the customizations you've
made, delete your .xscreensaver, and run xss-demo to create a new file with
your customizations. Sadly, some of the 8.4 modules have been removed, so old
files complain when used on 9.0 machines, and the 9.0's xscreensaver has some
settings that make the 8.4 xss complain. This will probably be the cause of
many olc queries.
