My .startup.X starts a fairly simple set of xterms for me:

xterm -title Mailbox -geometry 85x55+0+0 -vb -fg white -bg black &
xterm-color -geometry 145x60 -title vt -vb -fg white -bg black &
xterm-color -title DISCUSS -geometry 105x56+240+175 -vb -fg white -bg
darkgreen &
xterm-color -title suberic -geometry 85x55+640+270 -vb -fg white -bg
navyblue &

Very oddly, on 9.0 machines (not just my laptop, which is why this is
under separate cover), this occurs:

09:08 Starting sawfish window manager...
09:08 Running custom startup activities listed in ~/.startup.X...
09:08 [1] 1423
09:08 [2] 1424
09:08 [3] 1425
09:08 [4] 1426
09:08 xterm-color: Command not found.
09:08 [3] Exit 1 xterm-color -title DISCUSS
-geometry 105x56+240+175 -vb -fg white -bg darkgreen
09:08 [5] 1427
09:08 Session initialization completed.

I find this intensely odd, considering that the one that fails is the
_second_ invocation of xterm-color, and the first one succeeds. Running
the same command by hand after startup completes works fine. If this is
something obvious, I'm overlooking it. It also doesn't happen on 8.4
machines.
