Larry (in the course of some non-current-release Nautilus hacking) found
a horrendous solaris-only ORBit bug (calls to writev ignoring IOV_MAX
which is low under solaris but high under linux) that was screwing
Nautilus; it's unclear if this may be related, but I've seen at one stack
trace that makes me think that it is.
