Stuff I've noticed about new release

Stuff I've encountered in new release:
release 9.0 -- on Dell Optiplex gx110 redhat linux (art-farmer.mit.edu)
- .aliases file not sourced. usually it would be called from my
.cshrc.mine file.
- EZ always looks bad on a Dell/Linux. Usually I ssh into an
Ultra5 and run EZ from that window. In previous releases, that
worked and EZ looked okay. Now EZ looks worse than ever, and none
of the cursor icons are recognized -- they are replaced with alpha
chars.
- ENVIRONMENT vars $HOST and $HOSTNAME are set, but no shell var $host.
- History commands like !$ not auto-substituted when followed by
[space]
