Today netscape stopped starting up from panel for me.
I decided go follow ghudson's advice:

Usability issue: It is NOT clear that unsetting all of the "Enabled
indicators" disables running xalf. But apparently it does.
I disabled all "Enabled indicators" and now both messages and netscape
start just fine for me. With xalf enabled, I see the indicator selected
briefly, but no app runs.
Note: when I type in a terminal window:
xalf messages
nothing happens. But when I type:
xalf -n messages
it starts just fine.
Specifying "-n messages" in the launcher properties doesn't work though.
Is it possible that we've got a fixable xalf bug here?
