I've seen this. When we go to beta, I will suppress error messages
from the stderr of panel and gnome-terminal. (I was hoping to track
some of them down, but probably won't have any time.)

Not sure if I can do anything about this.
I thought I had fixed all the xalf problems, but I guess I have to
take another look.
