Unknown file while logging in on 8.3.7 Indy 'andrew'

I was not allowed to log in with customizations, and when I logged in w/out
customizations, I got the following error message in the console window:

 UX:mv: ERROR: /afs/athena.mit.edu/user/n/s/nschmidt/.desktop-andrew.mit.edu/Overview - No such file or directory

That directory contains:

% ls .desktop-andrew.mit.edu/
0.0                      TypeCache                layouts
