If I remember correctly, it was me who removed the old add script. If
so, I did do it on purpose.
The reason I didn't also remove the extend alias (the same reason I
didn't remove it when add evolved from a straight alias to a script)
was for backwards compatibility; it's possible that people may have
been using the extend alias independently of add, and the new add
didn't replace its functionality.
Of course, maybe nobody ever used the extend alias, I don't know. I
was always very conservative about that stuff.
