The wtmp file is indeed turned over by size, so if more log entries
are being written out, it will get turned over faster.  And it looks
like the behavior change here is in xterm, rather than in last, so the
wtmp files really are growing faster under IRIX 6.x.  In a future
patch release, we could change it so that the file gets rolled over by
time instead.  Do you have any idea how long the average 8.1 Indy
preserves "last" information for, so I know how many days to keep?
