What were you trying to do?

What's wrong:
a message showed up in the console window:
13:12 Waiting for workstation to finish activating...done.
After displaying "done," a window popped up saying
my password was incorrect.
What should have happened:
Assuming I entered the correct password, which I'm
fairly sure I did, it should have waited for the workstation
to finish activating and logged me in. I'm reporting this
on the off chance that I managed to catch a race condition
(say, something like Xlogin adding me to /etc/passwd or
getting me Kerberos tickets/credentials, then waiting for
the workstation to finish reactivating...which of course
involves replacing /etc/passwd and clearing /tmp :)
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
