What's wrong:
sepherke logged out of the machine, and it went to the funky
SGI color interpolated background, and stayed there. When I pressed
return, a console-style window appeared on the screen, but there was
nothing on it, and no response to any keys (return generates a blank
line, ^C and ^D result in those character sequences appearing, but
nothing else happens).
What should have happened:
The machine should have displayed the Xlogin window and
proceeded to function normally.
