I am still able to core dump TeX at will:
/srvd > cd /srvd
/srvd > /usr/athena/tex
This is TeX, C Version 2.93 (no format preloaded)
(preloaded format=plain 89.7.17)

Segmentation violation (core dumped)
Same results with the SIPB version. It changed directory to $HOME
before dumping core, for reason which are not clear to me.
