Your use of verb tense here is unclear. Are you saying:
a) setting XAUTHORITY in .environment works, and we should make this
the default for everyone
or
b) setting XAUTHORITY in .environment does NOT work, and we should
fix this?
If (b), putting the XAUTHORITY setting in ~/.ssh/environment (in
/bin/sh format) might work.
