xlogin al confusion

When I logged in on my O2 just now, xlogin reported that since I was
already logged in with a temporary home directory, that this session
would also use that temporary home directory. I clicked 'ok' and was
logged in with my normal home directory.
/var/athena/sessions/danw now says:
0
1
0

but I don't know what it said before.
This may somehow be related to my finger info changing between my
previous login and this one?
