Sorry. I remember hearing people complain about this and thought you
knew about it. tcsh in my xterms is ignoring meta. So if I do M-b to
move back a word, I just get a `b'. (Yes, this happens with both
`meta' keys.)


And here's a new problem. When I telnet in, $TERM/$term defaults to
vt100, even though if I turn on telnet option negotiation debugging, I
see

RCVD IAC SB TERMINAL-TYPE SEND
SENT IAC SB TERMINAL-TYPE IS "XTERM"
