I changed rc.conf to reflect a lowercase hostname. Then I rebooted.
My workstation then proceeded to update itself several times, reboot at
least 4 times (maybe more, I wasn't watching for the first 10 minutes),
delete almost all customizations, reset itself to the default root password
and ended up setup as a standard public workstation. None of the old
custmization files even exist anymore.
Anybody have the slightest clue why this would happen? The only change I
made other than the one to rc.conf was to give remote access to a
test account (minor change to /etc/passwd and /etc/passwd.local).
This shouldn't have caused any problems.
The good news is that plug does show up as lowercase.
