Xresources under SGI 8.1

To set Xresources for xterms on an 8.1 machine (SGI), the
variables required are:
XTerm.foo
(or *foo, depending on what side of the fence you fall on)
specifically in my case it's XTerm.foreground
and XTerm.background
However, under 8.0 (SGI),
xterm.foo worked (so did XTerm, but XTerm wasn't required)
with 8.1, xterm.foo fails.
Something changed....
