I backed out the patch 1489 beta on my sgi.
confirmed that all was well
then did the athena update.
In the "rebooting reconfigured kernel" phase it got
"PANIC: KERNEL FAULT" and it will not go further than that.
Perhaps, we should try and find out what got toasted.
Wasnt there a similar problem to this that occurred with other machines
-- some graphics library, that when present on the local disk would
cause panic faults?
I've left my machine dead so we can poke at it to try and find the fault.
