What were you trying to do?
Verify that `mom -mail' was using mhmail to send mail.
What went wrong?
My test succeeded; that is, `mom -mail' is using mhmail to send
mail.
What should have happened?
`mom -mail' wants to send mail. It should do this with `mail' or,
better, `sendmail', but any program that didn't wastefully,
irritatingly create random unasked-for, unnecessary crap in my
homedirectory (what MH has decided is ``The standard MH path'', even
though it is unrelated to sending mail), such as ~/Mail and
~/.mh_profile.
Anything else you'd like to add?
(in rough order of `likely to happen'ness)
Talk to Bruce; he wrote some good portable code for sending mail
from programs a while back.
It'd be nice if mhmail didn't decide that it needed to create
standard files so that it could check and make sure that the
configuration information in them wasn't somehow different from the
standard files.
It'd be nice if MH weren't so slow and poorly written that I avoided
it in spite of the fact that I conceptually prefer it to the system
I'm currently using.
