System name: yaz-pistachio.MIT.EDU
Type and version:	KN02ca 7.7A
Display type: PMAG-DV

Other System name:	infocalypse.mit.edu
Other Type and version: SUN4m 7.7C
Display type: one of those not-really-17" monitors, but
                        that's a different story.

What were you trying to do?

try something else with the sun rlogind, to check something for my
previous bug report. Specifically, I tried to rlogin in as user
`y', a local user on inf.

What went wrong?

Most of the time I got this:

    ; rlogin inf -l y
login: y has not given you permission to login without a password.
    Password:

  One time I got:

    ; rlogin inf -l y
login: y has not given you permission to login without a password.
    Password:
    Login incorrect

(cursor was here, after two blank lines)

The process didn't respond to enter, control-c. I control-z'd it
  and killed it.

  Also, there's:

    ; rlogin inf -l y -x
rcmd: bad connection with remote host
rlogin: Kerberos rcmd failed: rcmd protocol failure.

  Note (on inf):

  ; egrep ^y: /etc/passwd
  y:*:17:101:Chad's local account,yandros@mit.edu,SIPB,2537788,2588656:/var/local/y:/usr/local/bin/tcsh

  ; cat ~y/.klogin
  yandros@ATHENA.MIT.EDU
  yandros.root@ATHENA.MIT.EDU
  mhbraun.root@ATHENA.MIT.EDU

(Matt is in there because he was in ~yandros/.klogin at the time.
  Matt, be nice. :-)

What should have happened?

I should have been logged in as user `y'. I get similar effects if
I try `rlogin inf -l y' from inf itself, so I suspect it's not just
  yaz.

Anything else you'd like to add?

  Yeah. WTF?

    ; rlogin inf -l root

    Warning: No Kerberos tickets obtained.

    Athena Workstation (SUN4m) Version 7.7C Wed Jul 6 18:11:01 EDT 1994
    infocalypse#

works fine. This still fails, though:

    ; rlogin inf -x -l root
This rlogin session is using DES encryption for all data transmissions.
    Connection closed.
