DOT.MIT.EDU, the primary AFS server for the testers.athena.mit.edu cell,
will be moving to the E40 basement at 5pm on Thursday, October 12th.
This operation should take less than an hour, including the time to
bring the server back up.
Anyone who is getting their "pack" service from the AFS testers packs
and who needs to keep their packs should revert to using the standard
RVD packs. If you converted to using AFS pack service using the script
in /afs/testers/maint/use_afs_packs, you can revert back to RVD service
by doing:
/afs/testers.athena.mit.edu/service/use_afs_packs n
To restore AFS pack service later, you can issue the command:
/afs/testers.athena.mit.edu/service/use_afs_packs y
If you have actually put your workstation into the testers cell, you may
find that /afs disappears. If you need continued service, restore your
workstation to the Athena cell. Since the method for this was never
advertised, those affected will know what to do; everyone else need not
worry about this.
