Type and version: SPARC/Classic 7.7B (3 update(s) to same version)
Display type: cgthree
What were you trying to do?
figure out why I was getting Hey: This packet... messages from
zwgc, but that's not important right now. If it becomes important
it'll get its own report.
In order to examine the problem, I was trying to rlogin to another
machine.
What's wrong:
Whenever I try to rlogin from my sun to another machine (I've
tried a 7.6 DECstation, and my sun itself), I can't type to the prompt
I get. (Depending upon how I try to login this may be a shell prompt
or a "What display are you using prompt", It doesn't matter, whatever
I type nothing seems to happen.
wtmp ends up with entries like these (nice tty... (it looks like a y
with an umlaut in my xterm)
root THE-OTHER-WOMAN. Tue Jun 28 11:43 - 11:45 (00:02)
What should have happened:
A working login session would have been nice.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
I've tried w/ and w/o encryption using rlogin and rsh without
a command and logging in as me or root, all on my machine (not all
combinations tho.
Note that I can type input if I use an rsh rather than a full rlogin
(ie. rsh machine /bin/csh -i works)
