I have fowarded your comment on the help to the document maintainers.
(You can do the same in help -- there is a button for sending in
comments).
You did not specify the type of machine you were on. From the mail
header, I suspect it was an RS/6000 in 4-035. I suspect the screensaver
option is an RS/6000 specific issue. (Possibly in the way the X server
is started up).
