DT; Sun IPX (yeah, a sun4c, not a sun4m)
I su (yes, it got the user wrong and said root-root again) to mount
something on the CD drive. It's, uh, not in a format the sun
understands (which isn't too surprising, since it's `Blind Man's Zoo',
by 10,000 Maniacs (I was playing. :-)), and it spews some errors to
xconsole, the way it should. Now, since I didn't care to have my
screen space covered with this, I clicked on hide. A few minutes
later, when I wanted to examine the error message again, I ran
show_console. Nothing happened. I ran it again. This time I got:
14:59 Warning: Cannot convert string "9x15" to type FontStruct
14:59 Warning - you are in too many groups. Some of them will be ignored.
15:00
15:00 Login../bin/hostname: Command not found.
15:00 .
15:00 Machine-specific path settings.
15:00 .......complete
(which is all from my normal login). Note the lack of messages about
su'ing or the error message. They didn't get added to the save file,
so they're gone. This is bad.
Next, I tried to start emacs so I could report the bug (haven't ported
sendbug.el to emacs19 yet). I get:
deathtongue:~
; emacs &
[3] 1481
deathtongue:~
; emacs: Cannot find
[3] Killed emacs
Huh? Try that again.
deathtongue:~
; emacs
emacs: Cannot find
Killed
I know I've used emacs on this machine before; I remember it losing in
movemail.
