Anyone can su on the rios, unless the system administrator has otherwise
set it.  You obviously are using a customized rios...  ix, godtree, and
tardis are private rios machines with various customizations.

I have never lost my AFS authentication.  Can you give any more clues on
this one?  Does it happen on a public-configuration rios?
