Podge is confused:

<21> podge:~> /srvd/auto_update rc
This system is in the middle of an update. Please contact
Athena Operations at x3-1410. Thank you. -Athena Operations

<27> podge:~> tail -6 /etc/version
Athena Server (DS3100) Version 7.1H Sat Aug 11 14:53:46 EDT 1990
Athena Workstation (DS3100) Version Update Thu Nov 29 03:51:15 EST 1990
Athena Workstation (DS3100) Version 7.2A Thu Nov 29 03:55:49 EST 1990
Athena Server (DS3100) Version Update Thu Nov 29 03:55:53 EST 1990
Athena Server (DS3100) Version 7.2A Thu Nov 29 03:57:33 EST 1990
Athena Workstation (DS3100) Version Update Thu Nov 29 19:29:18 EST 1990

Selected lines from /etc/rc.conf:

HOST=podge;             export HOST     # Hostname
MACHINE=DECMIPS; export MACHINE # Type of machine
SYSTEM=ULTRIX31; export SYSTEM # Type of operating system
PUBLIC=false; export PUBLIC # Public workstation?
AUTOUPDATE=true;                export AUTOUPDATE       # Auto-update?

I don't think anybody has updated this machine, so it couldn't be a
manual error. Why is the current update stuck in the middle? If this
happens during an autoupdate, I think it should be logged somewhere,
so someone can go back and find out what broke.
