Subject: Terminal Style Login
Date: Fri, 23 Nov 90 16:10:37 EST
From: George A. Madrid <gamadrid@ATHENA.MIT.EDU>
SHORT FORM:
When you do a "Terminal Style Login" the DISPLAY variable
remains set.
LONG FORM:
Using the new xlogin, there is an option to do a "Terminal Style Login."
This opens an xterm in the middle of the screen and does a tty-style
login. Unfortunately, the DISPLAY variable remains set. As a result, I
get two zwgcs running, one in X mode, and one on the tty. Also, when I
type emacs, I get an emacs running in X mode (i.e., a new window is
opened with emacs running in it.) This emacs overlaps my tty window,
and since I requested a tty login, there is no window manager running so
I can't get all of my tty window visible.
Thanks
George
