In general I like the new login window; it's an improvement. The subtle
touch of the blinking owl is nice. The "Hit any key to start" display
is much improved. Also, being able to get information such as xcluster
without logging in is quite handy. The quick appearance of the
login window is appreciated.
Here are a couple of suggestions:
I realize that the console window pops up to display warnings and should
be visible, but it's somewhat disturbing to have the console and login
windows overlap. You could move the login window down so that they
don't intersect, but then the position of the login window wouldn't be
as pleasing for the vast majority of times when the console window is
hidden.
The ``quick login'' option is nice to have, I suppose, but it seems
mis-named. Why don't you make clear that it's a tty login? Or is that
what it is? It seemed to use .startup.tty instead of .startup.X. It
was perhaps quicker than my usual two- to three-minute wait, but it was
by no means quick. (Maybe my account is unusual in this regard.)
