I can't cut text from the console window to paste into emacs.

After logging in, I found something like:

...
nfsid: raeburn ignored (not NFS)
rm: /tmp/: Is a directory
Usage: cp f1 f2; or cp [ -r ] f1 ... fn d2
Usage: cp f1 f2; or cp [ -r ] f1 ... fn d2
detach: raeburn detached
...

Looks like Ultrix "cp" doesn't support "-p"...
(Just when you thought you had caught all the OS-specific changes....)

It might be nice to clear the console window when someone logs in;
random users don't need to see the reactivation messages.  (And if
there are problems, look at them before you log in as root....)

And the xterm "longjmp botch" failure seems consistent now, which
didn't used to be the case.  I don't know if this relates to anything
else....
