"Quick Login" does your tty-based dotfiles so that users will get
their path, lockers attached, and still have zwgc started. The basic
idea is to not start the window system, but give the user an otherwise
complete environment. Starting zwgc is important so that they will
still receive operations messages.
Since you have made many changes to your dotfiles, they may not work
with new Athena options as you expect. But if you know enough to
change your dotfiles, you should know enough to fix them now.
