Good afternoon!

KfM 3.5 Released Today
---------------------------------------------------------------
Information Systems is glad to announce the release of Kerberos for
Macintosh (KfM) 3.5 to the MIT Community. We strongly encourage you
to upgrade at your earliest convenience in order to take advantage of
new features and improvements.

New Features and Improvements
---------------------------------------------------------------
Kerberos for Macintosh 3.5 provides bug fixes and many new features:

A Kerberos Control Strip, Kerberos Menu, and Kerberos Floating Window
have been added to simplify the task of managing tickets, in
particular for multiple user setups.

Carbon versions of all KfM libraries to support kerberized CarbonLib
applications running on Mac OS 8 and 9.

Fixed the bugs that prevented some systems from sleeping.

An overview of the new product features is available at
http://web.mit.edu/is/help/kerberos.

Important notes
-------------------------------------------------------------
Upgrade of KLPR Required
If you use KLPR to print, you'll need to upgrade to KLPR 2.1.3 after
you upgrade to KfM 3.5. You can download KLPR 2.1.3 from
http://web.mit.edu/software.

Application Memory Requirements may increase
This version of Kerberos requires more memory than previous versions.
If you experience unusual behavior with applications that use
Kerberos after upgrading to version 3.5, increase the application's
memory size. For example, existing installations of TN3270 require
that application memory be increased by roughly an additional 250K.
Instructions for increasing application memory can be found at
http://web.mit.edu/sa/945.html.

Where to get KfM 3.5 and KLPR 2.1.3
-----------------------------------------------------------
The installers are available via Certificate download from
http://web.mit.edu/software/.

Go to http://web.mit.edu/is/help/kerberos for links to KfM
installation instructions and user documentation.

If you have a question or need assistance, please contact the
Computing Help Desk at computing-help@mit.edu, or x3-1101.
