Good Afternoon!
The Plop release team is glad to announce that we are moving into the
community testing phase, and expect to release Plop within the next few
weeks. The team has developed a Plop Shortcut Wizard, to assist in
specifying the Athena directory to which Plop transfers files.
Plop is a limited-function, secure FTP implementation, specifically
designed for MIT users wishing to transfer files from a Windows NT or
Windows 2000 PC to Athena lockers. Plop uses Kerberos to enable users to
transfer files to Athena websites, without exposing their password on the
network. While Plop has some limited functionality on Windows 98 and
Windows ME, significant bugs complicate its use on these systems. Plop is
currently slated to be supported only on Windows NT and Windows 2000.
For more information, see the Plop Release Notebook, at
http://web.mit.edu/swrt/plop, or contact the Plop Release Team, at
plop-release@mit.edu.
