Mac OS X 10.1.5
-------------------
Information Systems is recommending that existing users of Mac OS X
should upgrade to Mac OS X 10.1.5. Released in early June, Mac OS X
10.1.5 delivers enhancements which improve the reliability of Mac OS
X applications, delivers improved networking, security, support for
PC Card serial communication devices, and expanded peripheral device
support.

The support level for Mac OS X remains unchanged: Information Systems
supports printing, network connectivity and use of the Finder at this
time. Administrative users who are using Mac OS 8.6 or 9.x with MIT
administrative applications should stay with their current operating
system.

On July 17, Apple announced that Mac OS X 10.2, the next major
version of Mac OS X, will ship on August 24. On that date,
Information Systems will announce an assessment of Mac OS X 10.2 and
a recommendation on how to proceed with adopting it.

Upgrading to Mac OS X 10.1.5
----------------------------------
Users with Mac OS X 10.1.3 or 10.1.4 can download the 10.1.5
installer from http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n122010.

Users with Mac OS X 10.1, 10.1.1 or 10.1.2 can download the 10.1.5
combo installer from http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n122011.

Security Updates
-------------------
Information Systems also recommends that Mac OS X 10.1.5 users
install two important security updates: Security Update 7-12-02 and
Security Update July 2002.

Security Update 7-12-02 delivers a more secure Software Update
service to verify that future updates originate from Apple. Security
Update 7-12-02 can be downloaded from
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75304.

Security Update 2002 includes the updated components Apache v1.3.26,
mod_ssl v2.8.9 and OpenSSH v3.4p1, which provide increased security
to prevent unauthorized access to applications, servers, and the
operating system. Security Update July 2002 can be downloaded from
http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n120131.
