--------
In preparation for the upcoming announcement of support for Eudora 5 at
MIT, Information Systems will no longer support Eudora 3.x after September
1, 2001. We reached this decision for the following reasons:

1. In an effort to provide a high level of support, we need to minimize the
number of supported versions. Our goal for Eudora is to support no more
than two major versions concurrently.

2. Support for Eudora 4.0.2 with a MIT customized installer has been
available for over a year now.

3. Based on survey results from fall 2000, the IT-Partners group has
already moved their clients to newer versions or will be able to move them
by the time support stops.

While I/S will continue to provide Help Desk support through September 1,
2001, we will no longer be testing other applications with this version of
Eudora after the release of Eudora 5.

In summary, I/S recommends that you begin planning to upgrading any Eudora
3.x systems you have to Eudora 5 when it is available later this
month. For assistance with Eudora, visit <http://web.mit.edu/is/help/eudora/>.

If you have any questions with the upgrade path, please contact Computing
Help via Casetracker <http://casetracker.mit.edu/> or e-mail to
computing-help@mit.edu

Jonathan Hunt and Ginny Williams for the Software Release Team
