Greetings,
i just had a conversation with Peter Kelley about mitsis. Not only is the
movement from vax to alpha an issue for the distributed printers...this was
the "secure" encrypted print conversation...there is also an issue around
central printing of production stuff out of mitsis that now goes from the
vax to the mainframe via jnet. The alpha is slated to go into producton in
January. Peter was asking me if we could be ready to test soon for this
production timeframe.
Since this was the first I had heard of this, coupled with the fact this
also involved aix level security and psf/afp pieces I told Pteter that i
would send mail to the group, and we could discuss the options and whether
we could meet the deadline or not. I did suggest to peter that he think
about a stopgap plan of ftp'ing the ascii files to the mainframe in a
manner similar to the current monthly statement transfer method from sap,
unitl we could be sure of being up and running appropriately with
ipm. Part of this is more than just setting up a logical destination for
them. These are grade reports and other forms that use overlays on the
mainframe.
