It is now pretty clear that we cannot make our goal of printing the August
general ledger statements and ancillary reports via IPM (in early September).
At Dave's suggestion, I have spoken with some of the FSS staff to determine
their readiness for sending the August reports our way. Although this will
need to be confirmed, it appears that they have some very minor coding to do
in order to allow this to happen. They also have a recoding project scheduled,
but this massive effort does not really stand in the way of sending the monthly
report to IPM for processing. Before they can make any changes they will need
to know the queue names which we will assign to IPM. I expect to have these
finalized by the end of this week. FSS has a code freeze scheduled for 10/18,
so if the changes aren't made by then, they probably won't be sending any
print our way until January 2001.
My discussions with FSS staff were only preliminary and informal. We still
need to formally notify the FSS infrastructure team and Gill Emmons about
where we stand. I have also explained to Bob Ferrara that we won't make the
September target date.
